The third version of the consultation draft of the Responsible Jewellery Council’s (RJC) Code of Practices, updated from July 2009, has updated the list of sectors to which the Code applies to include laboratory grown diamond producers.
The wording in the Code of Practices has been modified from ‘Gold and/or Diamond Miner’ to ‘Gold and/or Diamond producer (including Gold and Diamond mining and laboratory-grown diamond production).
The current round (3) of public consultation, open until Friday October 16, 2009 also includes the second draft of the RJC’s Standards Guidance, including the second draft of the Mining Supplement Guidance, the first draft of the Assessments workbook and a comments report from the previous round of drafts.
“The RJC would greatly appreciate any feedback you might have as to the scope and sufficiency of these mining-specific additions to the RJC Code of Practices and their associated Standards Guidance,” says Michael Rae, Chief Executive Officer of the RJC.
