The final report of the Kimberley Process Review Mission to Zimbabwe notes that the team conducting the Review Mission consistently received reports that diamonds from Marange typically exit Zimbabwe via the nearby border with Mozambique, where significant illicit buying and trading operations are underway.
The team also received reports subsequent to the mission indicating that overseas buyers from Lebanon, Israel, Belgium and Dubai are present in Mozambique and that rough diamonds travel from Mozambique directly and illegally to cutting and polishing factories.
The review mission’s conclusions and recommendations will be published on www.DiamondNe.ws shortly.
