CIBJO Congress to Follow ‘Ruby Day’

CIBJO, the World Jewellery Confederation, has set the venue and dates for its 2010 Congress. The congress will be held at the adjacent International Congress Centre (ICM), owned by Messe Muenchen, and will allow the congress registrants full access to the inhorgenta europe 2010 fair and the facilities offered by Messe Muenchen.

“I am pleased to announce that the 2010 CIBJO Congress will be held in Munich, Germany, February 19-22, 2010. The congress will coincide with the inhorgenta europe 2010 fair and is hosted by Messe Muenchen International (Munich International Trade Fairs),” CIBJO President Gaetano Cavalieri stated.

Managing Director and future Chairman & CEO of Messe Muenchen Klaus Dittrich said his organization is pleased to host the World Jewellery Confederation congress at the time of the inhorgenta europe fair. ”As the world’s umbrella organization of all national jewellery associations, CIBJO plays a decisive role in advancing the interests of the jewellery industry and trade at large, and particularly in advancing consumer confidence in jewellery products. We are honoured to offer CIBJO a platform to meet in Munich and believe that the inhorgenta europe fair offers a fascinating, extra dimension to the CIBJO congress participants,” Dittrich stated.

“CIBJO is grateful to the Messe Muenchen for hosting the event, as it offers our members not only to join our deliberations, but also enjoy access to one of Europe’s most prestigious jewellery shows,” Cavalieri noted. “Also, the time and venue will enable many other interested parties to join our meetings and take part in our discussions.”

Preceding the CIBJO Congress, a gemmological mini conference about ruby will be held on Friday, February 19. More information about the “Ruby Day” will be forthcoming soon.

Cavalieri said that the dedicated 2010 CIBJO Congress website will be up and running in mid December so participants can register for the congress, choose and book accommodations and plan their trips accordingly.

The website will include background material about Munich, the German jewellery industry and past CIBJO congresses. In the weeks leading up to the event, the congress programme, speakers list and biographies, and a press kit will be uploaded.
