Canadian Diamond Traders, located in Toronto, Canada, is offering a new face in 2010, despite warnings that the scheme it operates is a pyramid scheme in breach of the Fair Trading Act from the Western Australian government.
The Western Australian Government website states “Consumer Protection believes this scheme is a pyramid trading scheme in breach of the Fair Trading Act. Participants risk prosecution or other legal action if they ignore warnings and become involved in this scheme. They risk fines of up to $20,000 as individuals or $100,000 if they are involved as a company.”
CDT offers a marketing program as follows:
1. Retail Sales (minimum $1000)
Generate sales for a minimum amount of $1000 in diamonds or jewelry and receive 1 DTP position Free of charge!
2. Wholesale Sales (2x DTP Plus sales or 4x DTP sales)
Generate sales of 2 DTP Plus positions or sell 4 DTP positions and receive 1 DTP position Free of charge!
3. FEEDER or DTP (Deposit)
Feeder is $120 = deposit on a diamond and 1 entry in the feeder program.
DTP is $500 = deposit on a diamond and 1 entry in the DTP program.
4. FEEDER Plus or DTP Plus (Purchase)
Feeder Plus is $300 = Receive a $400 dollars value diamond + 1 entry in the feeder program.
DTP Plus is $1000= Receive a $2000 dollars value diamond + 1 entry in the DTP program.
