Namakwa Diamonds Sign Cooperation Agreement with Andre Messika

Namakwa Diamonds Limited has signed a co-operation agreement with B.L.I.D International, the operating company of the Andre Messika Group, a leading diamantiare based in Paris and Tel Aviv.

Andre Messika is a preferred wholesale diamond supplier to internationally recognised jewellery houses, as well as being a wholesale jewellery manufacturer and retailer with numerous outlets in Europe – the latest addition being an outlet in Gallery Lafayette, Paris. Andre Messika is established as a pre-eminent purveyor of high quality diamonds, and Namakwa is proud to enter into the Agreement to assist Andre Messika to continue to secure greater access to a regular supply of quality diamonds from territories within Southern Africa.

Pursuant to the Agreement Namakwa will gain access to Andre Messika’s manufacturing expertise and retail networks, whilst Andre Messika will use Namakwa to source suitable diamonds from its mining and buying channels which are specifically tailored to client demand.

Commenting on the agreement, Namakwa Diamonds’ Head of Beneficiation, Heno Kruger said:”This deal presents a significant partnership which will enable Namakwa to benefit from the commercial channels of a highly respected trading brand. The combination of Andre Messika’s manufacturing expertise and retail network combined with Namakwa’s mining, buying and beneficiation expertise will serve to extend the reach of fine gemstones to customers throughout the world.

He added:”This is also a great strategic fit for Namakwa. Both companies have a rich heritage with experience in excess of 30 years within their specific trades, the proficiency of which has been conveyed from father to sons, in the case of Namakwa and father to daughter, in the case of Messika.”

A collection of the first diamonds manufactured under this Agreement, including spectacular Fancy Yellow Stones ranging from 50 points up to a 77.77ct Vivid Yellow, will be on display at the Basel Watch and Jewellery Fair during 18-23 March 2010.

Namakwa Diamonds is an integrated diamond resource group focused on diamond mining and beneficiation across Southern Africa. The Company has a diversified portfolio of diamond projects, which include distinct diamond resource target areas located in five African countries, namely: South Africa; the Democratic Republic of Congo; Lesotho; Namibia and Angola. The Company’s projects are located within historically prospective geological environments.

Alluvial diamond deposits, including marine, have to date constituted the primary focus of the Company, but a recent kimberlite acquisition has been made in Lesotho which is consistent with Namakwa Diamonds’ philosophy of a short resource delivery time and further opportunities will be considered if they can provide accretive value for shareholders.

The Company adds value to its mining operations with a well-established beneficiation division, developed over a 30-year period, with operations in South Africa, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Botswana and Israel, allowing Namakwa Diamonds to capitalise on margins across the diamond value chain.
