Sting is the latest star to join luxury jewellers Bulgari Save the Children campaign. Other celebrities supporting the campaign include: Kyle Maclachlan, Desiree Gruber, Babrie, , Jessica Biel, Debra Messing, Zachary Qinto, Kimberley Peirce, Zhang Yadong, Yang Yang, Olivia Wilde, Ronaldinho, Ginnifer Goodwin, Lena Headey, Eddie Van Halen, Jennifer Esposito, David Wu, Cristiana Capotondi, Giuseppe Fiorello, Zhang Zilin, Claudio Coccoluto, Donatella Finocchiaro, Ma Yanli, Ben Stiller, Willem Dafoe, Vittoria Puccini, Terrence Howard, Valeria Golino, Jason lewis and Isabella Rosellini.
Bulgari has committed to raise €10 million in 2009 for Save the Children, in celebration of the company’s 125th anniversary this year.
The Rewrite the Future campaign aims to help three million out-of-school children in war-torn countries to go to school by 2010. Celebrities from the world of film and music are supporting the Bulgari initiative, including Julianne Moore, Benicio Del Toro, Ben Stiller, Sting and Andy Garcia.
Francesco Trapani, Chief Executive Officer of the Bulgari Group, said he is delighted that Bulgari is supporting Save the Children’s Rewrite the Future campaign. He commented that, for Bulgari, “giving less fortunate people the possibility of a new future is the best possible way of celebrating its 125 years”.
Charlotte Petri Gornitzka, Secretary General of the International Save the Children Alliance, said that Bulgari’s “commitment and support for education is one of the most valuable ways to make a difference to children’s lives in war-afflicted countries.”
As a demonstration of its commitment to Save the Children and in celebration of the company’s anniversary, Bulgari has created a commemorative, limited-edition, silver ring. The ring pays tribute to the silversmith origins of the company’s founder, Sotirio Bulgari, on the exterior, and Save the Children’s logo is engraved on the interior. The ring costs £200 in the UK, and Bulgari is donating £40 from each ring sold to Save the Children.
The ring is on sale exclusively at Harrods throughout January, and will be sold in the store’s fine jewellery room throughout 2009. Harrods is donating £10 from the sale of each ring to Rewrite the Future.
