Actress Mia Farrow is to take the stand at the trial of Former president of Liberian Charles Taylor, following the testimony given by supermodel Naomi Campbell over the diamonds, or dirty looking stones as she described them she allegedly received from Taylor.
Campbell, who arrived late for the court, described how she met Taylor at Nelson Mandela’s presidential home back in 1997.
While staying there she says she was woken in the middle of the night by two men at her door who gave her a pouch containing ‘dirty-looking’ stones she assumed were diamonds.
Campbell’s evidence has been described as potentially being crucial since it may prove that Taylor owned rough or uncut diamonds – something he has constantly denied.
During a recent ABC News interview, when questioned over the diamond subject, Naomi walked out and allegedly punched the camera.
Naomi admitted meeting Taylor briefly while staying at Nelson Mandela’s home in South Africa, but explained to Oprah Winfrey that ‘none of us knew who he was’. During an interview with Oprah Winfrey Naomi says she didn’t want to answer questions about Taylor because she doesn’t want to be involved in his case.
