More than 40 million fire extinguishers recalled after death and complaints

More than 40 million Kidde fire extinguishers are being recalled following one death and nearly 400 complaints of faulty operation, according to a US government notice. Some have been on the market for more than 4 decades.

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission issued the recall notice on Thursday, saying that the extinguishers can become clogged or require excessive force to operate, and thus fail to spray during an emergency.
