Levante and Leganes are both tied on 40 points heading into this game but with a 12 point cushion on the drop-zone, they are both safe from the drop. That has to be viewed as success as far as these two clubs are concerned, with Leganes in just their second ever season at this level, while Levante were only promoted last term.

They’ve reached that figure in very different ways though. Leganes were excellent in the first half of the season, boasting one of the division’s best defences and at no point this season have they looked in any danger of going down. They could slip to 17th with defeat, which seems a bit harsh given all they’ve contributed in a season when they famously knocked Real Madrid out of the Copa del Rey. However it is testament to a decline in form since the turn of the year.

Levante may now have the same number of points but for most of this season they looked in serious relegation trouble. It’s very easy to pinpoint the turning point in their campaign. Having won just three games all season, they sacked coach Juan Muñiz in early March and have won 6 of 8 since then, all but doubling their points tally in the process.

Paco López has done a fabulous job since taking charge. The pressure is off now, so it’ll be interesting to see how they go here but overall, all the value looks to lie with them to at least get something from this game. It’s just 1 defeat in 9 matches overall for Levante now and that came in a very tough fixture away to Atletico Madrid.

The secret to their survival has also largely centred around their ability to beat the sides around them. They are unbeaten against the bottom six and have not lost away to any of the bottom seven, further reason to fancy them to get a result here.

Leganes meanwhile have been held to frustrating 0-0 draws at home to the two sides directly below Levante in the table in recent months. They’ve only won 3 of their last 17 matches in all competitions and have drifted a bit towards the end of the campaign since their fine cup run at the start of 2018.

All the momentum is clearly with the visitors and backing Levante Double Chance looks like the most appealing bet here.
